Galle & Jessen 150 years
On 30 October 1872, Edvard Galle and Hans Jessen started their manufacture. Over the next 30 years, the couple managed to expand a small confectionery factory in a basement room into a large-scale production in one of Denmark's largest confectionery factories.

In 1884, Galle & Jessen's factory building on Lyngbyvej on Østerbro in Copenhagen was put into use, and for more than 100 years the factory was located there with its distinctive chimney, as a landmark for both the company and the district. Galle & Jessen was acquired by Toms in 1971, and today Galle & Jessen's legacy is integrated into the history of the Toms Group. It's not just the frog, Ga-Jol and the spread chocolate that lives on from Galle & Jessen, but also production methods, company culture and a strong tradition of collaboration.
